Scattered Thoughts

Awake and hitting up the blogs:)

Found this pic of  inspiration and can't seem to think of anything else that could ever inspire me to quilt as much as this scrappy quilt just did--so bright and beautiful from over at Fat Quarterly.

Makes the new quilt I am working on so ordinary---well that's fine though because I am tackling some "fussy" triangles and making headway.  Practice makes perfect---maybe--or triangles just aren't for me and hello squares and rectangles without the angles!

YES--I am working on yet another twin size quilt and I hope, specifically, pushing myself to have pics on here tomorrow of the finished top.

Have a great Memorial Day!

New beginnings

Burnt orange crocosmias

Morning glories

Deep pink vincas

Knight Butterfly bush

Purple and white verbena

These are some of my favorites that are getting ready to light up the yard in their vibrant and eye catching colors.  Hope to enjoy them lots before I go to WI next month.

peek a boo : )

Under a month and the top is finished, had a few scary moments as this is my second pieced quilt, miscalculating the stitch length to be used and some recutting.

When I return from my 2 weeks in WI, it will be time to finish piecing the already started backing and then sew the binding on.

Side note: I would like to know how others get their quilts to hang outside so flat for photos---feedback much appreciated!!

Having a Gadget moment!

I apologize first off, but this new APCS (apple peeler, corer, slicer) I got last month from my show I did through Pampered Chef ROCKS!!!  Well at least for us lazy people or those whom love gadgets!!

Totally worth the $30 or get it free with a Pampered Chef show.  I sound like a spokesperson:)  Starting to smell an apple pie in the mix though;)

Anyway I will let you ponder at this really cool tool and just think of all the yummy things this thing could give you an excuse to create!!   It's an adult toy---really:P

The Secret Garden

Well not really a secret, but maybe a little enchanting like the book that was sooo well written:)

Tomato plants from seeds (3rd time sown and they finally took!)
Butterfly bush that was 2 ft tall and now has grown to around 4-5 ft  just waiting for some deep purple blooms to emerge,
Lilies from bulbs with deep orange blooms to come:)
Sweet William in a basket from seed
California Poppies from seed; waiting on those bright yellow petals to surprise me
Lantana battling the sun; so far so good;)
Vintas in the basket I turned into a planter just by adding a plastic grocery bag and some potting soil
and
some other little pretties for FREE from the Ft Gordon community center.

Don't you just love to garden...maybe drop me a line about what you have growing in yours this summer and then join my blog if you find you have some things in common with me:)

SewMamaSew Giveaway Day

I have puttsing around different blogs in the last couple of days to find the best giveaway yet over at Mountain Home Quilts!!  She is offering up some stippling patterns which I could SOOO use at the moment.  I am really wanting to try some of these techniques on my current quilt top with the tessellation crosses.  In the future, I would LOVE to do so much more with the stipples as well:)  So I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed extra tight on this one!
