Restless

I'm tired.  These last couple weeks are testing me.  Still waiting for the hubby to come back:/  Friday perhaps he will be heading back?  Possible.

So whenever the hubby is about to leave or about to come home after being away for work, for some time I can never sleep.  Restless.  Brain racing all over.

Lately it has been really odd.  Weird dreams.  Waking up sporadically in the middle of the night.  I was thinking about three colors.

 Orange
Yellow
 Blue

Over and over.  Should I get up and sew?  No that isn't right!  It's the middle of the night.  I have to be awake for Ayden in the morning.  What to do, but lie there and wait until I fell asleep.  Thankfully it happened.  Eventually.

Next night I fixed that evil curse of not being able to fall asleep the night before!

Stayed up until 12 (yeh that's midnight too btw) and worked on this tutorial by Faith.  Did you know she has been quilting since 2009 only and she rocks out some quilts and patterns like no ones biz!  She started after her son was born.  Huh, just like me:)  I love reading biographies on quilters blogs and well,  food blogs too!

I must have looked at Faith's tute on this block a 100 times last night.  I kept forgetting the next step.  Wonder why I didn't just bring my Netbook into my sewing room---doh.  The umbrella fabric stole my heart.  I got it from a lady on Craigslist back when I lived in GA.  She said she had purchased it at Hobby Lobby or Hancock Fabrics.  I was on FB earlier today and my bestie, Pam in MI mentioned that she was looking for some chicken fabric.  I commented that I didn't have any,but was looking for some more umbrella fabric.  She, in turn, got me in contact with a friend of hers, Stephanie.  It's a WIP as of this evening;)

Back to the beginning of this post about being tired?  This chance to play around with some fabric scraps in a new found block could be a culprit.  Do I mind really?  Nah!  It was blissful actually!!

Oooops- I forgot to mention on Friday I received a call from a friend of mine that was back in town.  She is the reason for me doing a complete u-turn when it comes to exercising.  She gave me nice kick in the a** and muscles have been aching ever since.  Thanks friend!  NO,but really I have lost some post baby weight and I feel great overall.  Coupled with a healthy diet of course.

I had to reward my friend, C. for good behavior friendship skillz with some potholders.  She was eye balling them a month ago and had asked me about making some for her too.  Saturday I got to work and do you know it took me all day to crank those out.  Why?  Mom duty.  Chores,4 year old that wants to wrestle every minute he gets a breath, more chores,oh we have to eat too you know and so on.

Results are in:

Looks like some delicious Vintage Modern by the lovely Camille.  Her fabric lines are THE best.  That's me though:):)

I played with some funky patterns on the back of the pot holders.  I figured C. wouldn't mind or wouldn't even notice anyhow.  I made a bag out of this Amy Butler Daisy Chain Bouquet Forest fabric and I still had some left-yes!  Perfect color marriage!

May I keep them..pretty please with sugar on top!  I even had a roll of binding all ready to go staring at me in my basket of binding.  Score!

More goodness in the form of Heather Bailey:)

Something new for C.'s kitchen;)

A new back pack for Ayden

The umbrella fabric really is cute! I can't wait to see the blocks put together. I hope you find enough fabric!

The potholders look amazing. I made some trivets recently and there was no way I could attach the loop. Yours look really professional. I love the bright binding!

Looks like you are using some of the Vintage Modern I sent ;) the umbrellas are adorable! I'm sorry you are having sleeping troubles- that is the absolute worst. Ayden at preschool will give you some mommy time, I'm sure!

Hi, Sara - yes, he sure is a cutie!! Those were some good colors to be dreaming about - love what's happening with the umbrellas. What does your hubby do? I have a hard time adjusting when Scott's coming home from TDY's and Deployments. I love him, and I'm super-eager for him to be back home, but in the background there's a tiny jarring note about my home and routine getting invaded. Kinda silly, but it's there - one of those things you're not supposed to talk about but find other wives/husbands feeling, too. lol :D

I can hardly ever sleep, so I understand how frustrating that can be. I would also have a hard time giving away those potholders.

I have those problems too, waking up in the middle of the night with random ideas. I usually don't get up either. Love seeing the projects you're working on.
