Mess one block up completely: CHECK
Try again, this time with the aid of pictures from Sometimes Crafter: CHECK
Pretty block second time round: CHECK
Do we like paper piecing after 3 of these bad boys are put together?: CHECK and YES!
WHAT was I thinking then??
Probably that I was itchin' to try something new and this satisfied my creativity bug;)
BTW, I used tracing paper for the backing, a pen to transfer the pattern to, some fabric from a purchase @ Connecting Threads some time ago and away I went with my iron and trusty Janome sewing machine:)
I did the 3rd one last night. One.more.to.go. This will equal one pretty rockin' circle of geese block---yippee!!
Take care and see ya'll soon,

Eat your Veggies!
The garden is starting to come to life so to speak! Things are peaking up all over and I have been smiling oh so much lately:):)
First off we added a fence into the mix to keep critters out (hopefully) and mainly my two creatures, MY dogs!!
The gate will be added soon;)
The other day I got to pick my first crop of veggies--the radishes!! It was really exciting to think that I planted these seeds and they took off into something I CAN EAT:) Maybe I have a slight green thumb?!
-Absolutely delicious- |
-The leaf in the left corner is my squash that we planted in the center of the radish "ring" this pattern is so the radishes protect the squash from bugs- |
-A few spinach leaves have emerged, not too many though- |
-a few more inches and these are up for pickin'- |
-I planted some butterhead lettuce too yesterday and it should be ready in the beginning of August-love lettuce- |
-Carrots are sprouting up in weird areas where I Did Not plant then as well:) 3 months for these guys though- |
-another carrot- |
-tomato plant that was in that cup of water I showed ya a few weeks ago, in the GROUND and ready to growwwww!- |
-all three pepper types that we planted are sprouting, can't remember which one this is, maybe cayenne- |
-peas please- |
-the green sprouts are shallots- |
-I am starting to experiment with a couple of these plants and pick the flowers off in hopes of getting bigger berries- |
Hope I didn't bog ya'll down with too many pics, I had a lot to

Seeing Orange
This is the second gift that I am working on for my Pay It Forward friends:) I am really enjoying this windmill--maybe I will do a whole quilt of them.
Fabric: Sugar Pop and Kona Ash LOVE it!
My "Secret" friend likes orange and so this one is for her--hope she smiles when she sees it:):)
made the border from Kona orange and Modern Affair--POppin' that color out all over;)
I added the border and this beauty has been stacked and almost completely quilted with lots of Gutermann New Leaf thread
I cannot wait for ya'll to see it in its crinkly stage--the happiest of all of course!
So she could use this lovely quilt as a wall hanging or maybe set in the middle of her table with some pretty flowers in a vase:) Just sayin' that's what I would do;) he,he
Linked up my latest sewing to Sarah's over @ Confession's of a Fabric Addict!
Enjoy the weekend before Giveaway Day--> get that mouse ready and typing fingers revved up for some blog hopping-he,he!!

Building Muscles???
I made a new friend. (She doesn't even know yet,he,he!) Anyway, her name is Leila. She is doing a FAB, I guess we will say a quilt along to build skillz as quilters. My kind of show, so naturally I am joining in! Practice does make perfect and so I am hoppin' on the bandwagon.
How about you???? Do you want to hone your skillz and probably---- OH OK-- you will learn new ones as well:) It starts June 17th and ends around May of next year---SOOO a year of fun block making--what quilter doesn't love that!!
Goooooo see Leila @ sewnbyleila for more details.
Looking forward to it,
Sara

Not for the eyes of Dot and my Mommy in Law;)
Wonky stars- GO FIGURE!! I wouldn't do those again would I ?!
Fabric: Kate Spain Central Park,Kona Red,Sandi Henderson Meadowsweet II, and the veggie print I wish I knew because it is SOOO darn cute (anyone know?)
Warm and Natural batting & Insul-Brite are inside which made the binding a tad tricky, but I conquered IT!
Quilting: straight lines using carpenter's tape
One Pay It Forward down,2 to go!!!! I am finally getting on the ball a tad!
This cute little number is for my MIL,Teri----LOVE how it turned out, I am getting better a these wallets maybe LOL!
Fabric: Sandi Henderson Meadowsweet for the outside and inside "under" the pockets and zippered coin part and Castle Peeps for the pockets and zippered coin part
I am really liking the button I picked out to make that hint of blue pop some:)
The pattern was super simple!! My FIL bought it in WI and sent it to me with the request that I make it for my MIL. OF COURSE, she is a sweetheart---- so in a heartbeat!! I could not keep it from ya'll though as you can plainly see:) She is coming in July so she can see it then-he,he!Two more Pay It Forward's now, started one with a new block design which I am falling head over heels for!

Sign me up!
Quilting has been a passion for me for the last 3 years. This is from a girl who never wanted to sew, period!! I really did NOT like ironing or MATH either. God is smiling at this point:) Back to present, I made 2 other quilts before this one, smaller ones. What a stress reliever and an eye opener--"I am creative." I love ironing (yes I said that),choosing fabrics, cutting it up and with my OWN hands I am making something new.
This is the quilt that had me bolt into more projects--more TWIN size quilts! See I used to think if I ever made a quilt it would take forever. SURPRISE!!! I started this quilt top and had it all cut out out and then pieced pretty quickly. Think I was hooked??
There were trials along the way, but when this quilt was finished, AND sitting in my home AND on my bed, I was a happy camper. A learning experience, I haven chosen to repeat over and over again. This is what God had planned for me:) Maybe a little corny, but quilting makes me smile EVERY day in some way.
How's that for a hobby?? :)
The colors are so powerful and uplifting for me. And I get to choose how they will be used!
I.E. The yellow and blue in this quilt just make my heart sing every time I look at it! Also, the ways in which I can quilt it are so endless. In this particular one I did stitch in the ditch. Since then I have tried other techniques as well because--well--it's fun and gets my creative side revved up!

the old ballgame...
Kona love in: Marine,Ocean,Coal and Ash
Alexander Henry prints: Change Up and Great American Pastime
Pattern:Wonky Star Blocks
Pieced the back late last night, the adrenaline was a running;)
Time to stack and quilt him
"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."

Monday Fun-Day!!
scrap fleece makes for an awesome dog bed and free stuffing of scrap batting, tiny fabric pieces, and 2 old pillows (snatched the stuffing) |
Some raw edged applique with some perle cotton variegated thread
I bought the DS dots in red/pink and green/blue and then after seeing her prints numerous times in blogworld I decided to go get these 2 as well in 1/2 yd cuts. (I saw the turquoise print too the other day and now OF COURSE what will I be doing *I am innocent.* he,he I think:/)
Alexander Henry CALLED my name too:) Hence the apple print, cherry blossoms and dots--NEVER have enough dots.
Brian's baseball quilt is coming along and I have cut 6" strips for a border as I type here. I am thrilled with the simplicity so far and the manly effect of the Kona Marine. Off to sew it on!
